Exploring the wonderful sites of Westmoreland Sanctuary

Last month I had the opportunity to join my fellows hikers to explore the wonderful sites of Westmoreland Sanctuary MT Kisco in New York. This was a perfect one day 9 mile loop hike that circles the sanctuary, passing fascinating rock formations, many old stone walls and several small ponds.

Trails in Westmoreland Sanctuary are oriented with plastic markers and arrows. Trail intersections are marked with wooden signs listing the trail names.

There are interesting natural formations at every corner of the trail.

The trails lead through quiet, secluded areas, with unusual geologic formations and numerous stone walls – remnants of the area’s former agricultural use.
